Bands are open to all students enrolled at UW - Eau Claire. You can perform in one of three concert bands, four jazz ensembles, the Blugold Marching Band or athletic bands. Come be part of the UWEC Bands!
Something that I love about the ensembles at UWEC is that we play pieces with diversity both in style and composers. We get to meet the composers, learn more about them, and ask them questions about their career. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Percussion Ensemble performs a wide array of literature from historically classic standard pieces to contemporary works and from world percussion ensembles to premiers of new repertoire. The ensemble's purpose is to expose the student the widest variety of musical experiences; so each semester's concert spans a diverse amount of music. Additionally, participation in the UW-Eau Claire Percussion Ensemble provides students with opportunities achieve musical greatness through a unified collaborative effort and a common goal of the highest possible quality of musicianship, kinship, dedication, and positive encouragement.

Welcome to UW - Eau Claire Bands!! We are excited that you are interested in learning more about the many wonderful musical experiences that are available to you. All Bands (Wind Symphony, Symphony Band, University Band, Jazz Bands, and Athletic Bands) are open to all students regardless of your major. We encourage you to visit campus and sit in on one of our rehearsals or come listen to the bands in concert!! Auditions for Wind Symphony, Symphony Band, and Jazz Bands take place the first week of classes each semester.
Trombone and Symphony Band
Thank you for expressing an interest in the UWEC Trombone Studio. Trombone majors have weekly lessons, perform in studio class weekly and participate in trombone ensemble each week. Trombone ensemble hosts over 100 trombonists at the Upper Midwest Trombone Summit every other year at UWEC. In past years, the trombone ensemble has performed at the International Trombone Festival and at the American Trombone Workshop. Trombone studio is a welcoming, encouraging, and challenging experience. Please contact Dr. Ostrander for a visit, lesson, or chance to sit in with trombone ensemble.
Trumpet and Jazz
Thank you for reaching out and welcome to our site. We are a large studio with a belief in learning every kind of music with excellent quality at the undergraduate level. To do so, our trumpet environment involves three to five or more hours a day of practice a day individually and with each other in a family atmosphere. Our studio has a track record of players and teachers performing at the highest levels of our industry in many performance fields. Feel free to email me with any questions about the trumpet studio. Hello and thank you for your interest in the Percussion Studio at UW-Eau Claire! My name is Dr. Crowell and I'm the percussion professor here at UWEC. We have a large and active studio (currently at 20 members) and they participate in all types of opportunities from large ensembles (two concert bands, symphony orchestra, marching band) to chamber groups (percussion ensemble, four jazz ensembles and multiple jazz combos, contemporary music ensemble) to outside groups. As a member of the percussion studio, you will grow musically and personally in a supportive and family environment where personal excellence is encouraged in every way possible. I would be delighted for you to visit campus, to take a free lesson with me/talk more about your career goals and become acquainted with the studio and the program here.

Thank you for expressing interest in the Blugold Marching Band and University Band. The BMB, comprised of over 450 members, performs a field production at Blugold Football games, local marching band events, and BOA regionals. Those who participate boast about the friendships formed and electric performance energy. University Band is open to any musician on campus, without an audition.
